Sustainable Planet

At Prent, environmental stewardship is a core part of our sustainability strategy. We have established monitoring metrics and are actively developing corporate-wide baselines for key impact areas—including greenhouse gas emissions, electricity consumption, waste generation, and water management. These efforts enable us to track progress, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive meaningful reductions across our global operations.

Prent tracks Green House Gas emissions and has both short- and long-term reduction goals. To meet these goals, we have installed self-generated solar power, conducted energy audits, and have implemented projects to reduce our electrical use as well as purchase green energy.

Prent’s production water is in a closed loop system which is continually reused.

Plastic packaging plays an essential role in the healthcare industry by ensuring sterility, extending product shelf life, and preventing contamination throughout the supply chain.

Prent believes that innovative medical packaging can save lives—and shape a more sustainable future. Our focus on product innovation is guided not only by functionality but also by sustainability. We are helping to close the loop in healthcare packaging by incorporating the Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (HPRC) Design Guidance for Recyclability into our product development process. This ensures our packaging is both effective and designed with end-of-life recovery in mind. By aligning with circular design principles and contributing to a cleaner, more efficient healthcare supply chain, we are shaping the future of medical packaging—one that delivers impact without compromise.

Prent Pretainers were developed with the waste hierarchy in mind, prioritizing less material usage. These Pretainers eliminate the need for full retainers, while still ensuring the functionality of our product.

Sustainable Materials & Partnerships

MEDPET® 90 — Medical-Grade Polyester (PET)

MEDPET® 90 is a true #1 material that is mechanically recyclable through the most widely used recycling stream. This material is an environmentally-sound choice to help achieve sustainability goals.

RE•COVER™

RE•COVER™ is a medical-grade PETG extruded with virgin cap layers and lot-traceable recycled content at the center of the sheet. Prent incorporates its own scrap to promote the circular economy of plastics.

Sustainable Certification

This signifies that Prent Shanghai has met the criteria in terms of social, environmental, and ethical standards outlined in the code of conduct for the silver certification.

Collaborating on Sustainability

HPRC, a private technical consortium composed of globally recognized members from the manufacturing, healthcare, and recycling industries, leads pioneering projects to improve the recyclability of plastic products and packaging in clinical healthcare settings.

The Sustainable Business Council (SBC) is a Wisconsin-based nonprofit that empowers businesses to integrate sustainability into their operations by providing education, tools, and resources that cultivate leadership and drive sustainable progress across the state.
