JANESVILLE, WI—February 1, 2007—To meet the growing international
demand for medical thermoform packaging, Prent Corporation recently opened a
facility in Yauco, Puerto Rico, according to Prent Corporation President and
Chief Executive Officer Joseph T. Pregont.
Headquartered
in Janesville, WI, Prent is the leading global producer of thermoform packages
for the medical industry. With over
1,000 employees worldwide, the company also has operations in China, Singapore,
Malaysia, Wisconsin, Arizona, and strategic alliances in Europe.
The new
Puerto Rico facility, located southwest of San Juan, will serve the growing
demand for Prent medical packaging throughout the Americas.
“A number
of our existing customers also have operations in Puerto Rico and we’re in an
excellent position to build on those relationships, as well as develop new
opportunities throughout the region,” says Pregont.
“We’re
investing extensive capital into this facility, as we keep growing our
business. Our employees are very excited
about the new opportunities. They’re
ready to meet the challenge,” he continues.
“This
expansion into Puerto Rico is similar to the growth we’re experiencing at all
our facilities,” points out Pregont.
“Our Pacific Rim operations continue to expand to accommodate the
rapidly growing global demand for medical and electronics packaging.
To bring
its world-class design to hundreds of customers, Prent has created
international product development teams that transform each customer’s design
project from vision to reality. “It’s
during the product development cycle where a customer’s unflinching mandates
come face-to-face with the innovation, creativity and skill of our
award-winning product development teams,” explains Pregont.
One of
the company’s biggest challenges is speed-to-market. “Customers are requiring ever-tighter
deadlines, as product innovations roll out of their corporate offices faster
and faster. But we’ve embraced that
challenge by adopting state-of-the-art technology allowing us to do twice the
work, in less time,” he explains.
For 40
years, Prent has been designing and manufacturing custom thermoform packages
for many medical giants, garnering numerous accolades for excellence including
eight WorldStar awards and over 50 other industry awards.
It was
the first U.S. thermoformer to receive ISO 9001 certification and today each of
its facilities is ISO 9001: 2000 certified.
Additionally,
Pregont was recently named one of the “25 Notable
Processors in the World” by Modern Plastics Worldwide. Other industry recognitions include “Thermoformer
of the Year” by the Society of Plastics Engineers and “Wisconsin’s Manufacturer
of the Year.”
